I had a pretty good week. We started with an AMGA SPI Exam in the Ragged Mountain Area. I was fortunate enough to have Ryan Stefiuk and Dustin Portzline join us, and although the paperwork is not yet complete, I’ll push some photos on you.
I then headed to the Gunks to climb with Jon and his 8 year old Daughter, Phoebe. I had spent some time with Jon in Joshua Tree, and he came up from New Jersey to introduce Phoebe to the crags. It was…….AWESOME!
After that, I made the 6 hour drive to North Conway to meet Mike for some alpine adventuring. We thought with the previous weather we would be able to squeeze in a lap on one Mt Washington’s alpine gullies, with our sights on Pinnacle Gully. Well, it rained hard the night before, and was warmer than forecast. Instead, we climbed the Henderson Ridge and North Gully all the way to the top of Nelson Crag. We wore boots, spikes, gloves, dry tooled and even bare handed some of it. We used some combination of this gear on each pitch.
So, it’s still good for southern NE rock, and it’s going to get good in the next week up north in the alpine.
