Taking the Leap

Peter and Danielle came out for a day of Top Rope Anchor Skills instruction. During this course, we look at a number of different ways to rig anchors, starting with a knot and hitch review, rigging anchors off of trees, and other natural features, and then how to negotiate the edge and rappel down to the base of the cliff.  We included belay skills review and tactics, ground anchors, and other topics.  It can be a full day mentally if you’re not quite ready to be out on your own.  Fortunately, Peter and Danielle have been cragging with Mike and Jenn, who have climbed with us in the past and are now out on their own!

When the radar looks like this, you better get outta Dodge. Direct hit.  Sparks were flying.

This is a great day or two for climbers with expereince, either climbing with friends, or a guide, who are interested in striking out on there own.  It is important to have some experience in order to draw strong conclusions, make sound decisions, and it’s helpful keep to it real out there.

Thanks to Danielle and Peter for a really fun day out. I hope to see you at the crags soon!
